The VHB honours Hans Ulrich Buhl, one of Germany's leading business information scholars. He enjoys great prestige in Germany and internationally, and has provided outstanding service to the VHB, including as Chairman of the Executive Board from 2020 to 2022. As a DFG peer reviewer from 2016 to 2024, he significantly improved the representation of business administration and its related disciplines within the DFG. His many other contributions to business informatics include establishing the subject at the Fraunhofer Society through the Centre of Excellence for Finance and Information Management (FIM) at the University of Augsburg, which he founded and developed.
As a member of the VHB, Peter Eichhorn was particularly successful in promoting business research, especially in the field of public business administration. He established the Scientific Commission 'Public Enterprises and Administrations', now known as the WK Public Business Administration (WK ÖBWL), in 1979. He chaired the first six commission meetings (1979–1982). His pioneering contributions to the field, including his work on cameralistics, requirement profiles in public enterprises, state and municipal economic development, and hospital management, continue to have a significant impact on public business administration today.
As part of the VHB Conference, which will take place from 18 to 20 March 2026 in Göttingen, a detailed tribute will be held in honour of the two newly elected honorary members and Prof. em. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter Sadowski, who was elected an honorary member at the VHB General Assembly on 4 June 2024. Join us in anticipation of a new format!
