Academic Commission "Business Taxation" (WK STEU)

The Academic Commission “Business Taxation” (WK STEU) sees itself as a platform for the discussion of new research findings, the exchange of information, the ongoing review of the profile in research and teaching and as an institution for the promotion of young scientists. To this end, the WK STEU organizes regular conferences for its members. It also fulfills tasks for the German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB).

The regular conferences are characterized by an extensive scientific program. It offers the opportunity to present research results, to question methods and to discuss current research topics. Current developments in the discipline, the discipline's self-image, the demands on the course of study, or the need for special courses are discussed at the meetings of the Commission. In addition, issues relating to the VHB are discussed and decisions are prepared.

The WK STEU should also be a platform for young scientists. At least three junior professors or postdocs are regularly given the opportunity to present and discuss their research projects at the annual meeting of the Commission. In addition, the VHB's ProDok program complements the doctoral training of young academics and offers methodological courses as well as tax and accounting-specific courses. A representative for young scientists, elected by the Commission, offers advice to young academics. In addition, the WK STEU provides information on activities for young scientists via a mailing list for young academics.

The Academic Commission is also responsible for awarding prizes for outstanding academic achievements in the field of business taxation. Other components are the review of academic papers, individual statements, communication with the VHB and documentation of the Commission's work.
