Among the Commission’s key objectives are strengthening and integrating business education within economics departments, in higher education policy, and in (inter)national rankings; providing targeted support for early-career researchers; and assisting with curriculum development and accreditation processes.

The WK’s subject matter involves the description, explanation, and design of vocational and professional learning—both for and within economic contexts. The focus is on learning and work processes in companies, vocational schools, colleges, and other vocational education institutions. This perspective is complemented by current issues in business education.

Methodological priorities include competency assessment - which encompasses (human resources) selection, learning, and (human resources) development processes - as well as the design and empirical research of business education teaching and learning arrangements.

Through annual conferences and topic-specific ProDok courses, the Commission offers a dynamic forum for scholarly discourse at the intersection with business administration.
