Qualification for business research

VHB ProDok is the continuing education programme offered by the German Academic Association of Business Research (VHB). Launched in 2009 with two courses, ProDok now offers approximately 25 courses providing academic training at the highest level. The program is aimed at doctoral candidates and postdocs in business administration and related disciplines. It is continuously developed and evaluated to ensure practical relevance, theoretical and methodological depth, and alignment with the latest developments in the field.

The ProDok Faculty, acting as a working group, ensures a diverse, high-quality programme tailored to the needs of early-career researchers. In terms of content, the courses are guided by the research standards and trends of the five participating departments.

The programme is aimed at researchers in all stages of their careers:

  • Doctoral students in the initial, middle or final phase,
  • Postdoctoral researchers and research assistants, as well as
  • Supervising professors who wish to provide targeted support to early-career researchers.

A network for scholars

More than just a course programme: VHB ProDok is a network of dedicated researchers from across the DACH region and beyond who value rigorous research, methodological quality, and collegial exchange. In this way, both academic excellence and a passion for research and teaching are passed on year after year to colleagues in the early stages of their careers.

VHB ProDok

The VHB ProDok programme consists of intensive, four-day courses, focusing either on methodology or on a specific theme. These courses are compiled annually. The ProDok Faculty working group designs the course schedule in consultation with the VHB Executive Board.

VHB ProDok supplements doctoral training in business administration at universities in a selective and tailored manner. Furthermore, where no corresponding programme exists, ProDok offers the opportunity to complete a full programme of courses in order to obtain the necessary qualifications/ECTS credits en route to successfully completing a doctorate.
