4 questions to Benjamin Müller

What fascinates you about research into information systems?

Research at the interface between people, organisation and technology is particularly exciting in the field of digitalisation. Our research always challenges us not only to describe the past and present, but also to take a firm look at possible futures. In this way, we make important contributions to the responsible design and utilisation of information systems.

What challenges and opportunities do you think early-career researchers face?

Building a sustainable career in science today requires far more than just methodological skills and theoretical insight. In addition to practical and societal relevance, researchers today face major challenges in communicating their findings. In addition, the increasingly demanding environment requires a great deal of flexibility from young colleagues.

What inspires you?

On the one hand, digitalisation offers exciting new areas of research. There is still much to be done in this context, particularly with regard to moving beyond what is technically possible and focusing on what is worth living for in the long term. On the other hand, business informatics is a discipline with many great colleagues who serve as role models for me.

And what else?

I really enjoy being involved in the ProDok programme. The programme has matured considerably over the years and now offers doctoral students many valuable ideas and topics. I can only warmly recommend the programme, not just my own course.
