Who is Who in VHB ProDok
Meet the lecturers of the VHB ProDok programme
Christian D. Schade is Professor of Entrepreneurial and Behavioural Decision Making at HU Berlin. His research encompasses descriptive decision and game theory, including gender aspects and quantum-based decision analysis, as well as philosophical considerations of free will. Methodologically, it is based on laboratory experiments, economic and mathematical psychology and quantum mechanics.
What fascinates you about behavioural decision making?
Behavioural decision making (BDM) is highly interdisciplinary and of great importance for both business research (BWL) and economics (VWL). Psychology, or more specifically economic psychology, plays a central role here. BDM is important because it enables us to make predictions about people's decision-making behaviour, understand mistakes, and protect people against them.
What challenges and opportunities do you think early-career researchers face?
The challenges arise from the fact that the field is becoming increasingly competitive, while resources are dwindling and the demands placed on researchers and lecturers are growing. At the same time - you might call it an opportunity - a professorship is still one of the greatest professions in the world.
What inspires you?
On the one hand, I draw inspiration from great conversations with my wife and friends, as well as from photography, playing the piano, and riding my motorbike. On the other hand, I'm inspired by the areas of research that interest me the most and the things I enjoy the most about it.
And what else?
Interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity lie at the heart of scientific progress. Although everyone emphasises their importance, this is not always reflected in practice.
