4 questions to Stefan Wagner

What fascinates you about applied regression analysis?

Regression analysis clearly shows how data is related and which variables influence certain results. As such, it is a form of 'explainable AI' that generates not only predictions, but also real insights.

What challenges and opportunities do you think early-career researchers face?

Young colleagues face intense competition and pressure to publish. But what about the opportunities? Thanks to digitalisation and interdisciplinary approaches, they can reimagine the world!

What inspires you?

I am inspired by curious students, strong coffee and Viennese coffee houses, where tradition meets thought. And, of course, I am inspired by data, which always tells a story.

And what else?

Outside of university, I enjoy going for walks and long runs in the Prater, reading a good book, and searching for the perfect schnitzel. Science drives me, but Vienna keeps me going!
