SBUR Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research Receives Impact Factor

Web of Science listing marks a key step in the development of the journal

The Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research (SBUR) has been included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of Web of Science. In June 2027, the journal will receive its first impact factor.

This milestone reflects the ongoing efforts of the editors, the two sponsoring societies, and the publisher to disseminate high-quality research. It marks a crucial step in the journal’s continued development. Inclusion in the Web of Science is of particular importance for SBUR’s international visibility.

Both editors-in-chief view this as confirmation of their long-standing commitment to the journal: “We are delighted by the international recognition resulting from our inclusion in Web of Science. This allows us to offer researchers in our discipline an even more attractive outlet for their research,” says Thomas Gehrig (University of Vienna). Alfred Wagenhofer (University of Graz) adds: “The Impact Factor will provide our journal with a key indicator that further enhances our visibility in academia and professional practice.”

SBUR is the joint journal of the Schmalenbach Society for Business Administration (Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V.) and the German Academic Association of Business Research (Verband der Hochschullehrerinnen und Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft e.V.). It is published under a Diamond Open Access model by Springer-Verlag. SBUR is managed by the two editors-in-chief, Thomas Gehrig and Alfred Wagenhofer, together with 19 associate editors. It covers all areas of business administration.
