Assistant Professorship (Tenure Track) in Entrepreneurship

The University of St.Gallen and its School of Management are inviting applications for an Assistant Professorship with Tenure Track in Entrepreneurship, including SME or Family Business. The triple accredited (EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA) university offers a stimulating and well equipped research environment with a large network ranging from start-ups, small businesses and family firms to large corporations, providing outstanding opportunities for research and collaboration.

The new professorship in the School of Management will be invited to become part of the Swiss Research Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (KMU-HSG). We are seeking an outstanding early-career scholar with a clear research focus in Entrepreneurship, or closely related fields such as Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) or Family Business. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong potential for publishing in leading international journals (e.g., FT50), an ambitious and internationally visible research agenda, and the ability to build a strong academic network.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct internationally recognised research, actively acquire competitive external research funding (in particular SNF, Innosuisse, ERC), and contribute to the further development of the research profile of the KMU-HSG, the School of Management, and the University of St.Gallen overall. Applicants should therefore demonstrate outstanding academic potential and the ability to develop into an internationally recognized scholar.

The position involves teaching at Bachelor and Master levels in English. The successful candidate will contribute to the School's teaching portfolio in areas such as Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management, Family Business, and related subjects. We are looking for candidates with excellent teaching skills who are committed to developing innovative teaching formats and inspiring students at all levels.

The University of St.Gallen is committed to promoting equal opportunities and an inclusive working culture. We explicitly encourage women and members of underrepresented groups to apply. We offer dual-career and welcome services for newly appointed faculty (and their families).

We seek to fill the position as of 1 August 2027 or by mutual agreement. For further information, please contact Professor Dr Björn Ambos, Dean of the School of Manage ment and Chairman of the Appointment Committee (facultyposition@unisg.ch).

The application should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae including list of publications, research and teaching statement (each max. one page), teaching evaluations, two research papers that best represent the applicant's current research and contact information for two academic references.

Candidates should submit their application to the President of the University of St.Gallen, Professor Dr Manuel Ammann, online via www.unisg.ch/professorships at the latest by 15 November 2026. Research talks are expected to take place on 21 January 2027.
